It is twenty years since the first comprehensive study was undertaken into the lives and experiences of lesbian, gay and bisexual young people living in London. Since then many studies have looked at issues for lesbian, gay or bisexual young people, but in isolation. This study explores the lives and experiences of lesbian, gay and
bisexual young people in London, growing up and interacting in a heterosexual society and the extent, experience and effects of discrimination, victimisation and rejection on LGB young people and if, why, and how this affects mental health, suicide and self-harm risk and alcohol and drug use. It also explores current issues, support networks and access to services.
The main areas this research concentrates on are: education, employment, housing and homelessness, violence and crime, alcohol and drugs, mental health, the Health Service and other supports, religion and culture, sexual experiences and practices and current issues.

Keywords: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, young people, education, employment, housing, homelessness, violence, crime, alcohol, drugs, mental health, the Health Services, support, religion, culture, sexual experiences, sexual practices, current issues.
